Defining Moments

I think that it is fair and necessary to acknowledge the fact that there are undeniable moments in our lives in which we find a purpose and clarity that is unmistakable and powerful. These moments characterize our essence and align us with a purpose that directs the thoughts and intents of our entire being. It is almost absurd to attempt to verbally express the passion by which this self-realization comes, but the moments come nonetheless. Often finding myself in the thick of thin things, I mingle with the mundane and waste away in triviality. There is so much in this world that needs to be addressed. There are conversations going on in this world that require the active participation of the citizens in each and every nation. Everyone has been granted a voice, an opportunity to vocalize, express, and establish meaning; yet so often it is smothered. Not by totalitarian regimes or denied freedom of the press, though this sometimes may be the case, but by the own inferiorities that we cultivate and establish within the chambers of our own hearts. So often we are satiated, we stand back consenting merely to be blown about by the winds of change and circumstance instead of standing as the force by which change comes about. In respect to our perceived inferiorities, we truly are our own worst enemies. I was challenged once to think of a cause for which I would be willing to sacrifice my time and energy. I was inspired, but the months passed and in a moment of self-reflection, I regrettably find that I have done nothing. Not to say that my life has lacked any constructive element, but purpose and an application of my talents and potential capabilities has taken a backseat to the thin things. The times in which we live, the state of the world in which we strive, require more than indifference and silence. Too often, this leads to destructive ends. I have been inspired to speak, to use the intellect that I have acquired through study in order to start a ripple. It is a small start. It is pin prick in the wide expanse of eternity, but it is something. And think, just think, about what kind of place this world could be if everyone did something. I don't know if it is appropriate to issue a challenge, but if you are so compelled by my musings to act. Do not hesitate. Do not become subject to the binding ties of indifference. Stand up, take a good look at the world, and act!

WhAt's it All AbOuT?

Hey y'all... and no I am not from Texas, the South or anywhere else. Y'all is just easier! I am just a regular gal, which I guess is spectacular and exceptional in its own profound way. There is no particular way to define me, but like so many others that I know, I often find myself in the thick of thin things. With so many things on my plate, so many good things competing for my time and attention, I sometimes find myself wondering about what things really matter the most and where my allegiance of time should lie. Now...I will not attempt to philosophize, trivialize, or any other form of "ize" in this little blip of my reality. I just want to share a little of what I know to be true, those things I just can't understand, and those things that circumstance has called to my attention. I do not attempt humor, for I will undoubtedly fail miserably, but if there is found in my words an inkling of wit, take it for what it is worth. Within wit lies some of the greatest truth. What follows is my reality...finding the optimism and irony in the thick of thin things...
